Belgravia Shooting, Trial Date Set

The trial date for two Chinese nationals and their alleged local accomplice who are facing allegations of shooting two people they mistook for armed robbers at Belgravia Shopping Centre last month has been set.

Luo Tin Pen (27), Li Yize (27) and Gamuchirai Nigel Zuze (23) who are out on US$5 000 bail each appeared before Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande charged with attempted murder.

The matter was remanded to April 9 for trial.

The State alleges that on February 19 this year, Kevin Guzah, was driving a Toyota Vitz vehicle along Lincoln Road, Belgravia, in the company of Kudzai Nduku.

As Guzah and Nduku approached number 17 Lincoln Road, they heard a gunshot and immediately made a U-turn and drove towards a nearby service station.

The suspects allegedly got into their Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle and gave chase.

Guzah lost control of the car and rammed into a fuel pump before one of the suspects shot Nduku who was on the passenger’s’ seat.

It was reported that Guzah jumped out of the car and fell into a trench as he tried to flee the scene.

The accused persons reportedly rushed to the trench where they shot Guzah on the pelvis and right leg before bundling him into the boot of their vehicle and took him to the police station.
