The Movement for Democratic Change supporters met earlier today at Freedom Square in Harare to bid farewell to the party founding President and former Prime Minister of the republic of Zimbabwe, the late Dr Morgan R Tsvangirai.
The supporters gathered as early as 9am at the ground where they were entertained by Sulumani Chimbetu and Allan Chimbetu among others.
In a speech Nelson Chamisa said;
“the gift that we can give Save is our vote. We will continue with the struggle, and follow what we have learnt from our president Morgan Tsvangirai.”
The event was graced with so many leaders from political, civi, business and professional spheres as well other notable regional figures.
Crowds applauded the presence of Tsvangirai’s mother though she remained in the vehicle that was carrying the body wildly speculated to her outburst a day before where she declared a ban on the later Morgan’s widow and the now acting President of MDC, Nelson Chamisa MP.
The two co-vice presidents of the party Mrs Thokozane Khupe and Mr Elias Mudzuri were also present for the big send-off of their leader. The chemistry between the three warring MDC giants was mild despite the expected near fireworks.
People turned in their numbers for the send off, it was even near impossible for the hearse and accompanying vehicle to exit the podium post the ceremony. Tsvangirai’s body was then flown to Buhera where he lies in state pending burial.
