Nurses’ strike has been the talk of the whole country but reasons as to why they are on strike have just emerged and have been forwarded to the government.
Zimbabwe Nurses have listed the following reasons to justify their reasons why Nurses are on strike;
The first one is that the government has outstanding payments that they have not given the nurses.
The government and the nurses signed a collective bargaining agreement which included the standby allowance, night duty allowance and post basic allowance which have not been paid as per agreement signed on the 31st March 2018.
Insufficient medical, surgical human resources and equipment at health facilities is another issue that has drawn these nurses to a strike.
Failure to engage progressively on the paper presented to the employer on 04/04/18 after the government offer on 31/03/18 is another key issue that have made the nurses to go on strike.
Zimbabwe Nurses Association has sent their request to the attention of the Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa, Health Services Board Chairman and the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
