Doctor’s strike continues

The Zimbabwe Hospitals Doctors Association (ZHDA) yesterday addressed that the industrial action by junior doctors nationwide is still going on and has entered day 12 following contrary reports unilaterally declared on state media.

The industrial action initially involved only central hospitals but has grown to reach provincial and district hospitals and this is even worsened by failure on the part of the ministry of health to urgently provide workable avenues to address the ongoing industrial action.

Following a statement by the Government that there has been some solutions about the ongoing strike however, the Zimbabwe Hospitals Doctors Association (ZHDA) insisted that the grievances raised by doctors have been presented to the ministry a countless times and no action has taken place therefore doctors are to remain on industrial action until such a time practical and convincing solutions are done.

Meanwhile the health sector is experiencing one of its worst stages in the history of the country with hospitals remaining empty with serious acute shortages of drugs, medical and surgical sundries.
