His Excellency the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa met with students, principals and vice chancellors from different Colleges and Universities around the country at the Harare International Conference Centre today.
He highlighted that the main thrust was to build state of art, lecture theatres, lecture rooms, well equipped laboratories, resourced libraries and decent accommodation along with modern sporting and recreational facilities.
The President alluded that his government committed to sustainable national economic development and achieving quality, inclusive and equitable education as stated in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4.
He went on to accept the invitation by the students to meet with him on a date that he will decide according to his schedule.
Mr T. Gambiza gave a report on behalf of the students from both Colleges and Universities. In his report he appreciated the efforts that have been made by the government to improve the education system which include the reduction of fees for students on attachment and the student loans.
The conference had also companies like liquid Telecom, Cora_ Core, CBZ Holdings and FUNDI (from South Africa) among others that would like to invest in the Higher and Tertiary education.
The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Professor A. Murwira, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province Honourable M. Chikukwa among others were some of the Ministers present at the Conference.
