President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has surprisingly absconded attending his first leg of the continued series of “Thank You” rallies post the protests over the unsustainable cost of living which turned violent and cast a dark mark on his presidency.
Mnangagwa, through his Presidential spokesperson George Charamba gave an excuse of him being busy appraising international leaders on the merits of the protests which he continues to burden on the Chamisa led opposition and fell short of fingering the West as he did last week.
A presser penned by Charamba (see below) also further excused the president for taking time debriefing his foreign based envoys.
It is rumoured the Lacoste giant has deeply fallen out of public favour and feared being humiliated in the Mashonaland Central province which has been a key stronghold of the revolutionary party. Reliable intel gathered on the ground particularly after last week that saw the state security agents failing to bar the young maverick Nelson Chamisa pay his last respects to the icon Oliver Mtukudzi as well the manner in which Mnangagwa’s representative was ignored by the public send the Zanu-PF ‘tote-n-tots’ into a public relations concern.
ED, as Mnangagwa is affectionately called, is aware the public mood nationally is at its lowest and he remain blamed for the violence that grippled the country since August 01st, post the 2018 elections to which now close to 8000 people have been brutalised, totured and killed.
