Veteran gospel diva Joyce Simeti has died at the age of 42years She succumbed to a heart-failure at Arcadia Mediacal facility where she was rushed yesterday after complaining of chest pains.
Her daughter Rejoice who confirmed the sad development had earlier sent heart-harrowing requests to her mother’s friends and close followers on social media pleading for intercessions for her mother.
“Yes she passed on this afternoon , she has been complaining of chest pains for the past few days,” she said.
Mourners are gathered at Number 27 Ambelside Road in Braeside.
Simeti recorded her first album Tose Takadanwa in 2002 with Ngaavongwe records .She then followed up with NaMwari Zvinoita but the two albums received lukewarm responses.
Her major breakthrough was in 2005 when she left Ngaavongwe Records and joined TMC records at which she unleashed her hit song Kudza Baba Mai that received rave reviews and catapulted her to instant stardom.
She then moved to Diamond Studios and in 2013 she dropped another hot album called Anozvigonesesa.Joyce was also a designer of African attire which she made at her part times when not doing music. Zimbabwe gospel music have lost a mother ,sister and friend.

At the time of her death , she was an active musician at United Family International Church (UFIC). She is survived by her husband and three children.
