The minister of Labour and Social Welfare, honourable Petronella Kagonye said her ministry is working towards creating 400 00 jobs.
Honorable Kagonye said this at the employment creation dialogue which was held yesterday in Harare.
She also said that the creation of these jobs is a thing that the ministry will see unto completion within a period of two years.
“My ministry takes note of the fact that, economic growth and employment creation is at the heart of the new Government policy thrust.
“The decent work country programme is a framework within which multifaceted initiatives for job creation are been implemented across sectors.”
During the same event, an interview was held with the International Labour Organisation’s Director for Zimbabwe and Namibia, Hopolang Phororo who mentioned that the issue of unemployment is of concern in many countries including Zimbabwe.
She highlighted that there is a high rate of underemployment which led to many people creating small informal business.
The director also commented on the fact that the formal sector which is the government won’t be able to employ everyone hence there is need to support the medium enterprises in the country.
