Zimbabwe is plunged in shock and mourning as 29 people died when a ZUPCO bust heading for the capital side-swiped with another bus operated by UNIFREIGHT transport services.
The accident occurred just after the Bluebridge Tollgates just after the city. The ZRP are yet to release a formal statement and withhold the names of the deceased until next kin are notified.
Social network media has been buzzing all day with the Zimbabwean community laying the blame on the corruptly over-bearing ZRP which are alleged to negligently exposing the public to road carnage allowing unroadworthy vehicles on the roads in exchange for bribes.
“This goes even way beyond just the police. If you see some public transport vehicles carrying a valid permit and certificate of fitness, you will be shocked how they attained such document considering the state of the vehicle, giving some unworthy operators and corrupt and risky advantage”, said Martin Mutumbwa who operates a fleet of taxis in Central Harare.
