The Minister of Energy and Power Development Joram Gumbo is warning the public to prepare for more power cuts due to water shortages in Kariba.
At a Press Conference Hon.Gumbo warned Zimbabweans that they will be load shedding due to the water levels in Kariba which have gone low and the coal production in Hwange has gone low hence power cannot reach everywhere.
“Water levels at Kariba have gone too low to sustain the usual electricity output. Coal production at Hwange is currently low therefore electricity power is to low too” said Gumbo.
Gumbo said for everyone to acquire power there was need for load shedding.
“To ensure everyone get electricity whilst measures are put in place, we have to load shed,”said Gumbo.
Hon.Gumbo said there was need to manage water in Kariba because the country might not have access to electricity in November.
Of late Zimbabwe has been facing powers cuts and this is affecting many sectors of the economy.
