Mliswa blames corrupt town Councils for Cholera Outbreak

Member of Parliament for Norton constituency Temba Mliswa has blamed local authorities for the Cholera outbreak that has affected people in Harare and other near places.

Mliswa has shown his disgust on the corrupt local authorities in his recent tweets this morning.

“Cholera is an archaic scourge that has been compounded not only by poor service delivery but by corruption where new housing developments have not complied with Council regulations & Councils have not adhered to City and Town Master Plans just to make quick money.”

“Councils have sold stands in wetlands & allowed water sources to be sunk too close to sewerage systems. It was a ticking time bomb awaiting explosion. Corruption in Councils must end, they must stick to their respective Master plans & Compliance Certificates adhered to.”

“Land barons and/or Developers as well as Council employees found to have flouted permit requirements & procedures or irregularly issuing Compliance Certificates must be investigated & prosecuted. Its grand scale fraud & corruption & people are now suffering as a result.”

“Norton looks forward to new brooms sweeping clean & the Chair & his team replacing the old management & conducting a forensic audit conducted by the Auditor General’s office.”
