Mliswa questions the financial support of other presidential candidates

Norton Member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa has questioned the financial support of the other presidential candidates.

On his twitter platform, Mliswa suggested other presidential candidates should have joined these major parties like ZANU PF led by Emmerson Mnangagwa, MDC Alliance for Nelson Chamisa and a few others.

ZEC did very well in giving opportunity to those who wished to stand for election. However whilst it’s democratic, the requirements for Presidential Candidate should be revised to mirror its seriousness and avoid turning it into a farce.”

“How do aspiring candidates borrow money to file?”

“Political parties should deposit $1million non-refundable fee for their Presidential Candidate this indicates serious intent.”

“Candidates themselves should have a sound asset base and considerable net worth. Such requirements also mitigates the risk of aspirant wanting to get rich first”

“The number of Presidential Candidates that registered yesterday was a waste of tax payer’s money as the only real contenders are ZANUPF, MDC Alliance and a few other players.”

“The other guys should’ve just joined one of the aforementioned”

This follows the statistics which were revealed by the Nomination Court that sat on 14 June that there are 23 presidential candidates that had filed for the upcoming 2018 elections.

Having 23 presidential candidates has led all parties to be engaged in vigorous political campaigns.
