Dramatic events at the National Social Security Authority have left the country stunned as the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Priscilla Kangonye (MP) sensationally fires the maverick Chairman of the Board, Robin Vela. A letter dated 27 March 2018 and signed by the Minister was precise and shed no light on the merits of the immediate dismissal.
Vela who is not new to controversy once irked fellow executives by claiming the NSSA listed companies are a headache and problem to the organisation. Appointed in 2015, Vela also had had a bitter public issue with Norton legislator Themba Mliswa over the handling of a labour issue of the later’s children’s mother.
Mliswa could not shy from digging in on the demised Vela on twitter, hinting there is more corruption and Vela be investigated.
“Corruption doesn’t pay! Robin Vela receives his marching orders. Investigations should continue so that the alleged illicit deals are brought to book and in such cases, suspects shouldn’t be allowed to leave the country until investigations are completed. We await more exposure.” said Mliswa.
Efforts to get a comment from Vela were fruitless as his number now seem disconnected.
