After over four decades of comradeship, Mugabe plays a number on his fellows
Paranoid Mugabe relieves deputy Mujuru of duty
This afternoon Mugabe has, as expected dropped his biggest axe-blow on his immediate subordinate, Vice President Dr. Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru in a major Cabinet reshuffle that has also claimed at least half a dozen other ministers who failed to secure central committee positions in the part ahead of the party congress last week.
Mujuru was the last to be shown the exit door after seven other key ministers identified as either sympathetic or loyal to her were also not spared the fate, among them Webster Shamu (ICT, Postal & Courier Services), Simbarashe Mudarikwa (State for Mash East province), Francis Nhema (Youth Development, Indegenisation & Empowerment), Olivia Muchena (Higher & Tertiary Education), Nicholas Goche (Public Services, Labour & Social Welfare), Didymus Mutasa (Presidential Affairs), Dzikamai Mavhaire (Energy & Power Development) and lastly Munacho Mutezo (Deputy; Energy & Power Development). This comes as the embattled Vice President is said to to have emerged much as people’s favourite following the release of her official statement to public.A source close to the cabinet staff said Mugabe today appeared irked and unsettled since morning.
“What Mugabe seem not to realise is how skeletal he has made Zanu(PF), deliberately chopping off the real party and nationalistic faithfuls. This will not end right for the party as real independence now will be from the Mugabe self-kingdom”, said one of the removed now former minister who requested we do not mention his name.Simon Khaya Moyo who political critics and pundits globally had put as favourite was hinted of his unlikely chances as the 90yr old leader snubbed a handshake from him at close of congress.Mavhaire who is senator for Masvingo province and Mutezo, MP for Chimanimani West been under fire for not only supporting out-of-favour Mujuru but they also stand accused of abusing thousands of dollars and resources from Zesa, a parastatal they are in charge of.
It has been alleged that Zesa resources were used to finance activities of the faction led by Mujuru.
