Sikhala freed on $5 000 bail

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights(ZLHR) has announced that the Member of Parliament Job Wiwa Sikhala has been granted bail after his statement that MDC-A will dethrone Mnangagwa regime before 2023.

Posting on their twitter handle, ZLHR said they will be representing Wiwa at court

“Job Wiwa granted 5 000 ZWL$ by Masvingo HC judge ,plus usual conditions.Condition of not addressing rallies or gatherings thrown out as unreasonable by judge says since @Job Wiwa is a lawyer he knows criminal laws,”

“We are at Masvingo High Court where @ZHRL lawyers are representing Hon.Job Sikhala ,who is seeking to be released from prison on bail after he was detained and charged with subverting Constitutional government, ”the tweet read.

ZHRL said during court hearings the state had requested $50 000 for his release but he was to be banned in addressing any occasions in public after his statement.

“The state has made a shock request that Hon.Job Sikhala be released on $50 000 bail & be barred from addressing any political gatherings, ”read the tweet.

Hon. Job Wiwa Sikhala was arrested and detained at Chikurubi Maximum after saying that the MDC-A party will overthrow Mnangagwa and was charged with treason after his statement.Ho.Sikhala was later transferred to Masvingo Reprimand Prison.

We are a committed leadership that will give ZANU-PF headaches and [Amos Chibaya] was not lying or joking about the war and fight we are going to take the doorstep of Emmerson Mnangagwa .We are going to overthrow him before 2023 that is not a joke,” said Sikhala.
