The trial of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Deputy National Chairperson Job Sikhala has moved to Masvingo.
The state argued that the utterances by Sikhala to overthrow President Mnangagwa before 2023 was made in Bikita, Masvingo, so the case should be heard in Masvingo courts.
Sikhala made the utterances when he was addressing the party supporters in Bikita over the weekend.
Some of the MDC supporters have reacted to Sikhala’s arrest on social media
“The illegitimate regime is insecure and paranoid .The MDC is a legitimate peaceful democratic movement that will achieve change through peaceful, democratic and Constitutional means .We reject the victimization of our cadres by a regime that ceased power through unconstitutional means,” said MDC Vice President Tendai Biti.
“I stand in solidarity with @jobsikhala not for the sake of allegiance but because of Govt has robbed us of dignity, fundamental freedoms and the basics of a decent life. The country is in crisis because we have a corrupt, irresponsible Govt that must be removed, constitutionally,” said Fadzayi Mahere.
