Several people were seriously injured when a Toyota wish bumped into Toyota Passo yesterday in the evening at Corner Samora Machel and Sam Nujoma Street in Harare.
A 24year old Toyota Passo driver who was identified as Stanley Gubwe was carrying staff workers from Pick n Pay Borrowadale Branch and was hit by a Toyota Wish which was coming down from Enterprise injuring all the passengers except for both drivers.
The Toyota wish was travelling at more than 100km/hr making the accident inevitable. Gift Nyamuba who was driving the Wish lost control and collided with the Toyota Passo at the robots. Stanley Gubwe wanted to run away from the scene of the accident as he did not possess a driver’s license. One of cars went as further as breaking Tv Sales & Hire which happens to be near the scene of the accident.
Two police details who were just passing by took the task of liaising with the drivers. Four ambulances were the first to arrive at scene and the fire brigade and traffic police took too long to respond and the fire brigade arrived when all passengers were taken out.
A thief was also caught and taken to the police station after he was seen searching the cars soon after the accident occurred and none of the drivers claims to know him.
The accident needed an urgent attention as it occurred right at the corner of the President’s office.
