URBAN grooves artist Trevor Dongo was attacked by a security guard on his residence at Megawatt Court over a parking bay dispute last Saturday.
Dongo dragged his assailant Upenyu Magaya, 36, to court and pressed on assault charges. Magaya pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Victoria Mashamba-Kajengo where he was fined $30 or 30 days imprisonment.
Prosecuting, Benjamin Chikerema proved on January 20 around 10:00pm, Magaya was involved in a scuffle with Dongo in which he assaulted the latter with fists. According to Magaya, tenants residing at the premise are only allowed to park one vehicle in their reserved parking bay.
Magaya maintained that he attacked Dongo after he had failed to follow a simple instruction.
“Tenants can park only one vehicle in their reserved bays. Trevor parked his car and afterwards a certain lady came driving and I told her to park outside the premise. This did not go down well with Dongo who then tried to open the gate for the lady as I also tried to close it. A scuffle ensued, and I threw a punch at him,” said Magaya.
The magistrate confirmed with Dongo if he sustained any injuries, to which he said no.
