In the ongoing nationwide protests Harare has become the epicenter of citizens protests against a deteriorating economic environment that has seen banks run out of cash and civil servants salaries postponed on many occasions.
This has had a domino effect on vendors as the cash crunch means usual customers have no cash to buy their wares. This has been exacerbated by continuous running battles with the police as vendors try to strategically place themselves in areas where those with the little money circulating can be found.
Today led by their leader Stan Zvorwadza they embarked on a peaceful sit down protest at Town House, but riot police were deployed to forcibly disperse them resulting in their resistance and use of force including teargas by the police.
It seems the poorest members of society are double victims of a dying economy as well as police brutality;
