The Zimbabwe Netball Team (ZimGems) shined as they finished the Netball World Cup in Liverpool at 8th position at their debut World Cup. They are currently ranked number 13 in the world.
ZimGems had a stunning finish at the end of the World Cup where 8 teams showcased their talent in the performances.
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Kirsty Coventry congratulated the ZimGems for having finished in the top eight despite losing to Uganda, “I am very proud of our Zimbabwe netball team who finished 8th at the Netball World Cup.”
All of the African participating teams managed to finish in the top eight with Malawi (Queens) sixth, Uganda (She Cranes) seventh, South Africa (Proteas) fourth, and the Gems eighth position.
New Zealand won the Netball World Cup final as they were in the first position defeating Australia. The thrilling match made New Zealand win by a single point.
The next Netball World Cup will be held in Cape Town, South Africa 2023.
