The memorial lecture in honour of the late founder of Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Morgan Tsvangirayi was cleared by police and is currently in progress at Harare Showgrounds.
Earlier on the police have reportedly refused to approve the MDC’s application for the memorial. It is also reported that there serious disagreements over how to commemorate the late icon. Some of the party members were suggesting for a peaceful march and others wanted it to be an in-house memorial.
One of the party members, Vimbayi Tsvagirayi Java said that the arrangements and the police clearance were finalized yesterday and they are hoping that many people will attend the event after such a short notice.
Morgan Tsvagirayi died last year in February and was buried at his rural home in Buhera.
