AU suspends Sudan over violence against demonstrators

The African Union (AU) has suspended Sudan over violence against protests that killed thousands of people, following the brutal crackdown of military launch.

The announcement came after an emergency meeting by the AU after the violent dispersal of a protest which began on Monday in the Sudanese capital,Khartoum.

Posting on its twitter handle the AU said Sudan’s participation in AU’s activities would be suspended with immediate effect.

“The #AU Peace and Security Council has with immediate effect suspended the participation of the Republic of #Sudan in all #AU activities until the effective establishment of a Civilian-led Transitional Authority, as the only way to allow the Sudan to exit from the current crisis,”

According to the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors hundreds of people were killed and more than 500 wounded.
