President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commissioned new Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) buses in Bulawayo at the City Hall car park.
Mnangagwa is also expected to officiate the graduation ceremony of National University of Science Technology (NUST) after commissioning 76 buses.
Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting tweeted, “LIVE FROM BULAWAYO where President @edmnangagwa is set to commission a new fleet of buses for the Bulawayo ZUPCO public transport system at the City Hall. Thereafter NUST graduation. We will give live updates as the programme unfolds,”
On the 1st of November government has announced that Mnangagwa will commission another batch of buses from China to provide affordable and reliable mass transport.
In October government unveiled ZUPCO combis to reduce transport costs for commuters. Private kombi operators have been increasing fares daily due to rising fuel prices. They were going between $7 to $10 from suburbs like Chitungwiza to town.
