Learnmore Moyo a soldier stationed at 1.2 Infantry Battalion in Hwange, who absconded court in 2015 while on remand for murder, hands himself to the police after four years.
Moyo who was on remand for allegedly assaulting a fellow villager, Gabrone Ncube aged 45, absconded court in 2015, when he was released on bail and ran for a hide out in the neighbouring country ,South Africa only to return recently.
Upon his return Moyo is said to have reported back at his work place requesting to be readmitted, but was advised to first clear his murder case with the Victoria Falls court before he could be considered.
When he visited the court , Moyo was rearrested and charged with murder, remanded to October 31
According to the state, Moyo and the deceased (Ncube) were drinking beer with others at Chidobe Business Centre on June 7, 2015 when the tragedy occurred. The accused is said to have struck the late who was drinking beer with a log. Following the assault the deceased allegedly fell down and became unconscious. He sustained a deep cut on the forehead and eventually died.
