Human trafficking kingpin jailed 10 years

Human trafficking kingpin, James Tungamirai Maroodza has been slapped by a 10 year jail term for recruiting and trafficking a Zimbabwean woman to Kuwait in 2016.

The State represented by Netsai Mushayabasa proved that sometime in 2016, Rumbidzai Chikoore(26) saw an advertisement in a Local newspaper in which domestic workers were being sought in Kuwait.
Contact details were provided on the advertisement and she called the supplied numbers.
Chikoore managed to talk with Maroodza(31) who told her to come to His offices at number 5 Tern Avenue, Vainona, Harare.
Chikoore went to the supplied address and managed to see Maroodza who advised her to leave her passport for visa processing.
Thereafter, Maroodza processed her travel visas and some air tickets to the Republic of Kuwait.
Chikoore went to Kuwait and on arrival at Kuwait International Airport, she was whisked away by an agent who handed her over to her employer who later confiscated her passport.
It was during the course of her duties that Chikoore  was subjected to slavery and all sorts of abuses at the hands of her employer.
She managed to escape and sought refuge at the Zimbabwe Embassy in Kuwait before arrangements were made for her to come back to Zimbabwe
