Activist Mombeyarara speaks on state human rights abuses

Human rights activist Tatenda Mombeyarara said he is hoping that those who brutally attacked him should be brought to the law. Mombeyarara was tortured by men who wanted him to disclose information about the upcoming anti-government protest on the 16th of August.

“The rabid dogs who tortured me and others will face justice someday. Their marks will come off. Had to endure another surgery to save my limbs,”

The civil society leader was  attacked by suspected security officials who wanted him to disclose information about the upcoming anti-government protest which was being led by the opposition party Movement for Democratic Change Alliance(MDC-A).

Mombeyarara was among the seven civil society leaders who were arrested at the Robert Mugabe International Airport as they returned from a Centre for Applied Non-Violent Action and Strategies Workshop. The seven activists were charged with treason for wanting to dethrone President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Recently those opposing the Government have been abducted and tortured by alleged state security officials for challenging the status quo
