Mozambique votes today

Mozambique is today holding its presidential, provincial and legislative elections.

It is reported that President Filipe Nyusi of the Frelimo party has already casted his vote at   the Escola Secundaria Josina Machel in Maputo.

At a press statement yesterday the head of Mozambique’s National Elections Commission Abdul Karimo has urged citizens to exercise discipline and ensure polling is done peacefully.

Nyusi of the ruling party Frelimo is widely expected to beat the opposition party Renamo

Polls opened at 7am and are expected to be closed at 6pm.Results are expected to be announced after 15 days according to the law.
