Former Minister Mupfumira denied bail again

The former Enviroment, Tourism and Hospitality minister Priscah Mupfumira yesterday was denied bail after Harare Magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo ruled that the accused was a flight risk.

The state mentioned that Mupfumira has two passports in her name ,one of which is an ordinary passport and the other a diplomatic one.It is mentioned that the ordinary passport has a multiple entries into the United Kingdom and the visa is still valid for nine more years to go ,expiring in 2028.

“Clearly ,this visa gives her residence in the United Kingdom for the next nine years .This means she has strong connections with that country.”

“She owns houses in that country so this is a strong factor militating against the accused’s bid for freedom.” said Mr Makomo

The Magistrate said the serious charges Mupfumira faces could prompt her to flee the courts jurisdication.
