NAMA 2019

It was glitz and glamour at the 18th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) in Harare on Saturday where journalists, artists and film makers were honoured for their outstanding productions and performances. The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2019 were launched by the National Arts Council.

At this year’s edition, NAMA also celebrated Dr Oliver Mtukudzi and all Zimbabwean music heroes and heroines who passed away such as Charles Mungoshi for their lifetime achievements  in the Arts industry.

The outstanding  song of the year went to the Kanjiva hit maker Stephen Mamhere popularily known as Enzo Ishal. In his speech he said “ Thank you NAMA, thank you guys for all the support, this is a life time achievement”. He also thanked his fans saying, “Without you I wasn’t going to make it”. The kanjiva hit maker walked away with a surprise gift from Ada which was a destination ticket to Dubai.

Baba Harare was trolled for a NAMA wardrobe malfunction when he arrived on the NAMA18 red carpet wearing a replica basketball jersey of the Chicago Bulls Legend Michael Jackson with a pair of denim jeans. Watchers were left skeptical about just how accidental/intentional his red carpet mishap was, given his prior form in this area when he rocked the Star Fm Awards in a designer suit early February.
