Radio founding presenter DJ Waraz returns

Blessing Waraz Phiri, affectionately known for his catch phrase “Waranyu” has laced up his boots again after a near 6year sabbatical to focus on his studies.

Waraz who also worked with other pioneering Zimbabwean online radios like Afro-Zim and ZimNET is one of ZimOnline Radio’s key founding presenters with other notable names including DJ Fresh Prince who also returned a year ago, Mandla Stone, Gabriel “DJ Gabz” Zvobgo, Patience Tafadzwa Mushayabasa aka Queen B and Ladies Delight who is now a Gospel star.

The pioneering team was so passionately insane that the station scooped a “ZIMAA Best Radio Station Award” barely nine months from switching the grid on. Since then, nominations and excellence merits kept coming not only within the Zimbabwean community panel but beyond including the much coveted BEFFTAs to which ZimOnline Radio has become an annual recall.

Simbarashe Nyanhanga, the founder of ZimOnline Media could not hide his excitement at this development those he showed no surprised emotions;

“There is a panel that dug the foundation of this vision and every night I close my eyes I have the reminiscence of their image in the trench as we birthed ZimOnline Radio. I am so delighted Blessing has returned home, we are now going back to basics. The newer team members have expressed equal excitement and the welcome has been quite overwhelming”, Simba now based in Harare said.

You can catch DJ Waraz on ZimOnline Radio every Friday at 2200GMT to midnight with his explosive show dubbed Friday AfroBeats Express. To listen, please log on to www.zimonlineradio.com or download the Mobile Applications from GooglePlay and iTunes stores respectively.
