Tsitsi Dangarembga Receives 2021 PEN Freedom of Expression award

Zimbabwe novelist and filmmaker,Tsitsi Dangarembga has been awarded with the 2021 Poets, Essayists and Novelists(PEN) freedom of expression award in recognition of her literary contributions and as an activist.

To kickoff 2021 the PEN organisation is honouring Tsitsi Dangarembga recognising her activism in Zimbabwe and her,”remarkable work in fighting for freedom of expression”.

Meanwhile Dangarembgwa’s novel,” This mournable body” was shortlisted for a Booker prize in 2020 adding to her novelist awards collection.

The PEN freedom of expression award previously known as Oxfam Novib was lastly awarded to Dr Stella Nyanzi a Ugandan academic and poet.

Tsitsi Dangarembga remains one of the popular Zimbabwean female authors with her popular novels which include; Nervous Conditions,The Book of Not and many others.
