The trial for former Energy and Power Development minister, Samuel Undenge’s failed to kick off today at Harare Magistrates’ Court after the State made an application for a postponement.
Prosecuting, Jonathan Murombedzi told the court that State witness, Noah Mangwiro is not feeling well and applied that the matter be postponed.
Undenge’s lawyer, Alic Muchadehama argued that the State is infringing his client’s constitutional rights and trying to frustrate court proceedings since he demanded for a trial date.
Regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya then deferred the matter to May 15.
The ex-minister is facing criminal abuse of office charges after he fraudulently awarded a public relations contract to Fruitful Communications without going to tender, prejudicing the State of $12 650.
