US Embassy endorses demonstrations in Zimbabwe

The US Embassy has called upon the Government to grant Zimbabweans the right to protest in a peaceful manner.

Posting on its twitter handle, US Embassy urged the Government to allow Zimbabweans to protest without being ambushed or harassed in their harmony demonstrations as freedom of association is guaranteed in the Zimbabwe Constitution.

“All citizens and their civic leaders, political parties, or civil society organizations have the constitutional right to peacefully assembly and association”.

“All have important roles to play in contributing to Zimbabwe’s future and must be given the space and freedom to do so.Peaceful protest is a Human Right”.

Zimbabwe Republic Police has dismissed rumors on social media that there is going to be protest in Zimbabwe and warned everyone to stop inciting violence on streets.

Of late, Zimbabwe has been facing inflation and is pushing Zimbabweans to go and demonstrate for their lives.
