Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced that it has postponed their 2022 World Cup preliminary qualifier against Somalia following alleged request from the Somali Football Federation (SFF).
In a statement ZIFA claims that the game will be played on Tuesday 10 September 2019 because the SFF failed to secure flights to Zimbabwe in time, for the match which was supposed to be played on 08 September.
ZIFA also said they have changed the venue of the match from Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo to the National Sports Stadium in Harare because they were clashing with the Under 23 Zimbabwe and South Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
It also advised football stakeholders that kick- off is still 3pm and gate charges remain unchanged.
“We understand the inconvenience this development presents to all stakeholders and we unreservedly apologise for the unexpected developments,”
“In the spirit of fair play, African Solidarity, brotherhood and togetherness, we felt the Somali Football Federation’s request was reasonable and sincere, thus we consent, otherwise the match would not have taken place at all,”
“All those who had already purchased tickets will still use the same tickets and for those who cannot make the trip to Harare, we have authorised our ticketing partner ClicknPay,to accept requests for refunds,”
ZIFA also encouraged fans to buy tickets so that they will come and support the Warriors.
