Zera approves new tariffs

Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has approved adjustments of electricity tariffs, with effect from October 3.

This follows after Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) had applied seeking another adjustment following the previous application in August this year.Citing that current charges have been harshly weakened by the inflation prevailing in the country.

Household tariffs will have a monthly fixed charge of $6.08 followed by 50 KWh rating at $0.41 and 51KWh -200KWh at $0.91.

Energy and Power Development Minister Fortune Chasi last week revealed that the country had acquired 100 Megwatt from Mozambique to relieve the power shortage.
