Ngwenya brother’s front man of highly popular album and track Nyaradzo Muchapedza Matsito has passed on at 48.
Matsito who was the leader of Ngwenya brothers band which rose to fame from their album Nyaradzo Madiro (Gede mwana) and many more passed on at 01am at Parirenyatwa Group Hospitals were he suffered and was recovering from his 2nd stroke.
The Ngwenya vocalist was in and out of the hospital for the past two years after his leg amputation.
“He has rested. He passed on after midnight at Parirenyatwa where he was admitted. He had been in and out of the hospital for a while now. We will be announcing funeral arrangements shortly,” said Matsito Jnr.
The Sungura musician became famous through his song ‘Gede’, ‘Rudo inzira’, ‘Nherera’ among others in the 1990’s.Tedious managed to travel across the world through his music.
The Ngwenya brother’s downfall began in 2008 after a Mozambican tour the band was involved in a car accident which led to the death of Matsito’s brothers Luckmore, Domingo and another female band member. Their instruments were smashed in the process.
Matsito survived from the accident without serious injuries. The Ngwenya lead singer made a comeback in the music industry in the process his right leg developed a gangrene in May 2009.
Gangrene is a serious condition that can result in amputation of a limb and death.it needs urgent treat meant to halt and spread of tissue death as rapidly as possible.It is also linked with diabetes.
