Appointment of Tendai Mtawarira (the Beast) as Tourism Ambassador by Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality has caused mixed reactions amongst Zimbabweans on social media.
The rugby union player who plays for the Sharks in Super Rugby and in the Currie Cup represents the South African national team (the Springboks) , is now a South African citizen to whom the Ministry nominated instead of having someone who represents Zimbabwe as a representative at national level.
“It would be better if you guys had nominated someone who is representing his own country in any discipline. How can you have an ambassador who is not even playing for his own country?” , Zimbabweans commented on social media.
The appointment by the Government has disappointed most Zimbabweans as they were hoping for a local man to be appointed or someone who represents Zimbabwean sport.
